My oldest son wears the same pair of shoes for everything he does…including 2 hrs of football everyday in the front yard. They are a pair of crocs that he received from his grandparents not even 6 months ago. So, imagine my chagrin when he comes in and says that they are BROKEN! NOOOOO! This practically constitutes an emergency in the Saunders house. Our clothing budget is a bit tight right now because hubby has been getting a much needed upgrade in his uniforms…so what do I do?
Solution #1: DUCT TAPE! It fixes everything! Right? No. He tore right through it.
Dang. I guess I’ll actually have to buy him shoes.
Solution #2: Zappos. I spent forever going through different sneakers online. He has to be able to throw the shoes on a GO. No complicated ties. (Thus the favorite crocs.) I picked out 3 pairs and showed hubby. His response, “Are they ALL that expensive?” Ack.
Solution #3: Maybe I can get a new strap for the shoes? I google it. No straps available. BUT…they have Rivets!
Solution #4: I can just replace the rivet! (thats the hinge thingy that keeps the strap on) And for only 99 cents! YEAY! …. BUT WAIT… $5 shipping? You have GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. The shipping is 5x the cost of the product? No way. (Of course $6 is better than a new pair of shoes.) I’m about to hit buy when I think… what about coupon codes?
Solution #5: Rivet plus coupon code! I google coupon code for crocs and find one for FREE SHIPPING. It’s from the fall but it works! Back to 99¢!
Done. Ordered. I feel so thrifty.

I never buy ANYTHING online w/o checking retailmenot.com first. Also, I am a member of a few online sites that you get points for searches, surveys, shopping, etc. So I always shop through one of those b/c eventually those points turn into dollars or gift cards!
